New Year, New You

Welcome to the best year of your life!  Ever wondered why some people seem to achieve great things while others just coast through life not really achieving much at all?  We share the secrets of success which will help you make the shift from a "gonna" to a "doer"...

Step 1 - Dream Big!

Nothing great was ever achieved by aiming low.  Think about what you want to achieve and really immerse yourself in that vision.  Think about what your life will be like once you have achieved that goal, how will you feel, what will you do, who is there with you. The more specific and tangible that vision is the more you are invested in making it a reality.  If you can really believe it will happen, you will be more aware of opportunities to help you get there. 

Example Goal:

What: to lose 20 kg in 6 months.
When: Birthday on 16th June,
Why: to enjoy a long and healthy life with my family & friends, to feel sexy in my favorite red dress, to be proud of my health & physique.
How: implement a proper eating plan to regulate my metabolism, appropriate strength & cardio exercise at least 30 minutes, at least every second day, cut out alcohol except for special occasions, stay motivated! 
Who: my family, my friends, my trainer, my doctor m self.

Step 2 - Stock Take

Now you know where you want to be, you need to know where you are. Make a not of where you are at and a list of all the great things you have already achieved towards that goal and give yourself a pat on the back!  This is like your current location on a GPS map, without that, you couldn't possibly expect to end up at your chosen destination.

Step 3 - Make a plan

Working backwards from your vision, create a number of milestones or measures to hit.  Then break that down into daily/weekly actions.  In our example to be 20kg lighter in 6 months time, you need to be approx 4 kg lighter each month, starting now. Next, work out how to do it.  How many calories do you need each day to be healthy, happy & losing weight.  Fasting does not work!

Step 4 - Measure it

Review your goals regularly, and check your progress.  As your health & fitness improves, you will need to adjust your weekly actions to compensate.  If you have a bad week, how do you catch up?  How are you feeling, do you need a pep talk, do you need more support?  Seek it out!

Step 5 - Go for it

Once you are committed mentally, and emotionally, pull out all the stops.  Excuses, self lies, and delusions are a thing of the past.  To be who you want to be, make those changes and reap the rewards forever!  Surround yourself with people who will support your goals, and avoid those who don't.

Once you learn to implement this strategy you'll be amazed at what you can achieve.  We all have the same 24 hours a day, what are you going to do with yours?
